Where exactly is the rook?
The rook is the fold of cartilage above the daith, between the inner and outer conch. Not everyone has a pronounced enough fold — we check your anatomy first and suggest a conch or helix if it will not sit well.
How painful is a rook piercing?
It is a thick fold of cartilage, so expect firm pressure and a sharp 2-second pinch — most clients rate it higher than a helix but very manageable. The soreness afterwards fades within days.
When can I change a rook piercing to a hoop?
Give it the full 6–12 months. A curved barbell heals it best; hooping too early, while the channel is still firm, is the classic way to irritate a rook that was doing perfectly.
