The little hoop that sits in the frenulum — the thin tissue connecting your top lip to your gum. It shows only when you smile, hence the name, which makes it a favourite semi-hidden piercing.
Does everyone have the anatomy for a smiley?
No — some people's frenulum is too thin or too tight to hold jewelry safely, and shallow placements can wear at tooth enamel over time. We check the tissue first and will honestly tell you if a smiley is not a good idea for your mouth.
How long does a smiley last?
